Jadyn Ramazani Named as Sioux Valley Energy Finalist in Regional Who Powers You Contest
At just 14, Jadyn Ramazani has already dedicated several years of her life to serving the region’s first responders, veterans and assisted living center residents. This selfless dedication is what earned her recognition as a Sioux Valley Energy finalist in the first annual regional Who Powers You contest.
“Jadyn is one in a million and I guarantee that if she is chosen, she would pay the money forward and make sure that several veterans are gifted,” wrote Kathy Reisenweber, who nominated Jadyn for the contest. “This little girl has changed the lives of so many.”
Who Powers You is an exciting new contest being hosted by the region’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives to highlight local figures who are making a difference in their communities.
Jadyn lives with her family in Brandon and dedicates her spare time to giving back to others. Since age 5, she has been baking and selling her famous spritz cookies and using the profits to buy gifts, candy, fruit and socks for first responders, veterans and assisted living facility residents.
“I just feel like, especially right now, the world needs something good to hold on to,” said Ramazani. “Humanity just needs a reminder that there is still good out there and I’m happy that I’m able to help them see that.”
During COVID-related lockdowns, Jadyn also decorated the grounds of the local nursing home, played her saxophone in the nursing home yard for the residents and even played tic-tac-toe on the windows.
“I noticed that there was a need for people in assisted living centers, specifically veterans, who didn’t seem to have a lot of people coming and visiting them as well as had a lot of things they needed. So, I decided I would give back and use my cookie baking skills to get the funds to give them the things they need,” said Ramazani. “Every single year I’m able to do more and more for giving to veterans and assisted living centers. Hopefully I will be able to grow it enough to be able to give 200 residents a gift on Christmas.”
Jadyn’s story was featured on Keloland Living on March 2. A recap of the segment is also available on the contest’s webpage at WhoPowersYouContest.com.
