COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Historically, Sioux Valley Energy employees have been active volunteers for various community organizations. However, it wasn’t until 2019 that a group of employees, taking part in an internal leadership program, recommended a change in employee volunteerism efforts. Their recommendation included connecting employees with area communities to better meet the needs of residents. That’s when the Community Connections program was born.
The mission of Community Connections is to “Be the light in our community through the spirit of volunteering, community service, and helping those in need.”
During the program’s first year, employees volunteered a total of 616 hours and those volunteer hours continue today. Volunteer projects included working with the following organizations: Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Prairie Village, American Red Cross, Colman Veterans Park, Madison Baseball, Feeding South Dakota, Project Joy, Children’s Inn, Children’s Home Society, Rake the Town (Hills, Hartford and Sinai), Lights at the Lodge (Pipestone), Brookings Gun Club, Brandon Fire Department, Big Sioux River Clean Up, The Gathering, Rock Ranch, The Foster Network, and Meals on Wheels.
