Sioux Valley Energy is planning for a major operational undertaking in southern Rock County in Minnesota starting Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The work is expected to be complete by Friday, August 1, 2025. Sioux Valley Energy began serving an additional 800-plus members in 2015 after it joined eleven other cooperatives to purchase Alliant Energy’s electrical system in Minnesota.
Alliant Energy served as Sioux Valley Energy’s power supplier for the past decade within the service territory that was purchased as a condition of the 2015 purchase agreement. That power supply arrangement will end as of August 1, 2025.
To complete the transition to a new power supplier, Sioux Valley Energy will need to temporarily shut off power to members in southern Rock County (affected area shown on map). Once the transition work is complete, L&O Power Cooperative will provide wholesale power to all Sioux Valley Energy members in Minnesota. While the existing system that provided service to this area in the past is a well-built reliable system, the planned integration of that system with L&O Power Cooperative as the new wholesale power supplier will provide more options for improved reliability.
Two letters were sent to members in the affected area informing them of the planned outages. Sioux Valley Energy will also make automated calls to each impacted member the day prior to the outage.
Any additional communication or changes regarding this plan will be communicated through a phone call, email, or text message. Members can select the way they prefer to receive notifications by signing up for the Cooperative’s online account management system called SmartHub. Members can also contact SVE’s Member Services Department at 877-511-8062 to update contact information.
