‘Commitment to Community’ is one of Sioux Valley Energy’s core principles. The Cooperative’s employees embrace that concept and live it through volunteerism.
Since the inception of Sioux Valley Energy’s volunteer program called Community Connections, employees have volunteered over 4,000 hours. We are always looking for additional ways to connect with our communities through our volunteer efforts. If your community or non-profit organization is looking for help, let us know more by calling 800-234-1960.
Some of the ways we have volunteered include helping these organizations and communities with various projects and work:
- Rock Ranch
- Feeding SD
- Rake the Town
- Lights at the Lodge
- Colman Community Lights
- Community Blood Bank
- Meals on Wheels
- Project Joy
- Children’s Home Society
- Sleep in Heavenly Peace
- City of Hills,Minnesota
The volunteer work SVE employees have done for those entities range from hanging lights at baseball fields and wrapping Christmas presents for the holidays to delivering meals to seniors and building a playground for a childcare center. #ServingOurMembersAlways…it’s what we do. It’s how we live.
During this holiday season, Sioux Valley Energy is collecting personal care items for area students through the Cooperative’s fourth annual Tree of Giving Hope drive. SVE members can bring donations to one of SVE’s offices during business hours (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) by December 29 and receive a small gift in return.
We’re looking for donations for students at area schools such as:
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body wash
- Facial wash
- Combs
- Hairbrushes
- Deodorant
- Antiperspirant
- Feminine products

Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. In the 12 years since, it has grown into a movement that inspires people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Check in with your favorite local non-profits to see how you can help others. South Dakota Gives has curated a list of non-profits in the state to support.
